Windows Home Server

August 7th, 2009 Stu No comments

image As my home network has grown and my paranoia of losing data has increased, I have decided to get some central storeage… I have looked at standard NAS devices and almost purchased a DLink system. Then I realized there is no way I can get my wife to manually backup her data on a consistent basis. I have also had low success with with backup software and not overwriting good data and keeping it sync’d between multiple devices. So after some reading it looks like I will go with a Windows Home Server.

Steve Jobs and Apple?

January 15th, 2009 Stu No comments

jobs1 First, I am not an Apple products fan. I don’t iAnything. No iPod, no iPhone, no iMac, nor iOS X… uh I mean OS X. I respect the products, just “iDon’t”. Mostly because I like Windows, not because it is “better” in some measure. Simply, I’m used to it, it does what I want, I can do 99.999999% of what I want to do on it, with lots of options and it is a lot cheaper. It is not a complex equation.

Happy Birthday Windows

November 21st, 2008 Stu No comments

windows-birthday-23 I was reading through my RSS feeds and on Mobility Site was an article about Microsoft Windows turning 23 today.

Yep, 23 years ago Microsoft release Windows 1.0… Wow now I feel old, back then I was playing with an Apple II and thinking my "dual floppy drive" made me awesome. I even had a 1200 baud modem!

I never touched Windows until version 3 and was using DOS.

Crap I aged, I was 15 then.
