I have been pretty happy with the moves Microsoft has been making over the last couple years. It started with taking the internet more serious, carried on in the developer tools, and then a bit of a movement towards the open source world. All of this has greatly improved Microsoft and its standing in the software community. Now it is Google and Apple, the “darlings” of the tech world, that seem abusive and monopolistic.
Microsoft has continued its show of good with Website Spark. Website Spark follows the idea of Dream Spark and Biz Spark that help college students and business startups (respectively). Website Spark is a way to get the latest Microsoft products and try them out for free.

I just bought a Windows Home Server from HP tonight. I purchased the EX485 that has a single 750 GB hard drive for $449.00. This is a two day sale from HP and is about the best price I have seen for the EX485 in the last 6 months that I have been looking at the WHS systems. I was starting to lean towards building my own system due to costs, but for $449.00 the EX485 is a very good deal… It is also especially good since I purchased it through Bing Cash Back.

Ok so the big deal was finally announced yesterday. Microsoft is now number two in the search game or at least will be shortly. Over the last couple of days (and really for a year), I have been reading all the different analysis from the raving to the ranting. I have felt most didn’t get it and see the value for Microsoft and for Yahoo!.
Microsoft needs scale and Yahoo! needs help has been my thought all alone. Yahoo! is screwed up, I have an account for mail because I have ATT’s U-Verse. So occasionally I use that email account and some Yahoo! services, outside of the Financials I find Yahoo! horrible…. Though I should be nice, I use Live Mail (refuse to call it hotmail) for my email….
This is a preview of
Microsoft and Yahoo (best analysis) or Finally a Microo’ish Result

Comscore has released the search market shares for this week and Bing.com is up to 12.1%. It is good to see some competition for Google in search, next needs to be advertising. Competition is good for the market and just like Microsoft needs Apple and Google to compete in the OS maket, Google needs some competition in search and advertising.
