Google: Trust Me…

image I have had a bit of a trouble believing Google’s “Don’t be evil” motto, unofficial or not. I don’t trust companies or governments to do things in my best interest, because that is not in their best interests. I left Gmail because of seeing ads for what was in my email. It is not the ads, but the idea of a company essentially reading my email. I’ll leave Microsoft’s hotmail the second I see this happen. I am not that concerned of my searches being tracked, but there is a point where that will go over the line and we are hitting it.

Google Nexus One ETF of $350… Plus the Carriers!

image Wow, that “do no evil” motto of Google was apparently not known by the group that decided to charge $350 as their own Early Termination Fee on top of the carries ETF. Have to say I did not expect this from Google! Below is the actual statement from Google’s Nexus One’s Terms of Sale.

Technology Writers are Worthless

image One of the questions I am constantly wondering is “why are so many of the technology writers against Microsoft”. Seriously, this is actually one of those things I wonder all the time. They are not supposed to be “Joe Shmoe” that only knows that Microsoft was sued for being a monopoly (10 years ago) or some old perception. They are supposed to be “in the know”, “in the loop”, have a deep knowledge of the industry and let’s not forget journalists. Instead it is non-stop “bash Microsoft”. Sure Microsoft deserves their fair share of criticism. Microsoft has made sub par products or not kept up with the market, but who hasn’t made mistakes? But the technology writers root for Microsoft to fail and it doesn’t take reading between the lines to notice it.

Whining and the iPhone

image Let me get this out first… The iPhone is a really cool phone. I don’t want one and I am happy with my Windows Mobile phone. I do really miss the crackberry, but the company won’t pay for it anymore….

So with that discloser out there, I have to say the whining about the iPhone is ridiculous… Michael Arington of TechCrunchofficially quit the iPhone”… Why? Because he can’t use a competitive service with an ATT phone.
