APOD: Anak Krakatau

image One of the largest volcano eruptions happened in 1883. Krakatua blew itself apart… literally. The sound of the explosion was heard nearly 3000 miles away in Australia. This might have been the loudest sound in recorded history… So today on Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) we have a picture of Anak Krakatau or “Son of Krakatau”, since the previous volcano island blew itself apart.

What a beautiful picture or a very scary volcano.

A Beautiful Saturn Night

newrings_cassini_big

I am a huge fan of the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) website. I have no idea how many people visit APOD, but it is not enough! The pictures that are there are nothing short of breathtaking. As a fan of NASA and space exploration, I have to share this unbelievable picture of Saturn in eclipse. To may this is just another sign of the magnificence of the Universe and God’s creation.

According to APOD, the little blue dot to the left of the main or bright rings, is the Earth.
