Microsoft CES Announcements
Steve Ballmer introduced some new things at CES 2009.
- Windows 7 Beta will be available for consumer review Friday.
- Windows Live Essentials is out of beta and will be available for download.
- The Xbox 360 had a great 2008.
- Verizon and Sprint will be offering Live Search on their phones.
- Dell will be the first PC manufacturer pre-installing Live Search and Live Essentials on “most” of their new computers.
- 20 Million Windows Mobile phone sold in the last year.
- 30 Windows Mobile Phones brought to market last year.
- Facebook and Live photo sync.
- Live Mail (not a fan of the hotmail name) is getting some nice additions.
- IPTV is being heavily developed and growing (I use it, U-Verse, and really like it).
Also, there was a funny bit at the begging of his speech. He got messages from Bill Gates, Jerry Yang, and Rod Blagojevich.
The Yang message was about his friend message being ignored on Facebook and Blagojevich wanted to know how to “delete an email already sent”.
I plan to download and try out both the Live Essentials and Windows 7 Beta. In the future I will give you my impressions…. From the preview, I like what I see..
On a side note, I really like the multimedia marketing that was shown in the presentation. Whomever created it has excellent taste and a very nice approach.
