Google = :-(
I started having a problem with Google a few months ago. I always knew being advertised at came with the territory when using a free service. That generic ad for cars or whatever was fine, but Google’s Adsense technology bothers me when it is reading my email (I don’t care when I am using Search, but not my email). To me this is just a blatant violation of my privacy and one I can’t ignore.
In a world of increasingly less privacy, I can’t support a company that actively scans my email to look for words to use in advertisement towards me. I know Google tracks users to help understand the users patterns. This is all in the context of “helping” to improve the user experience. Now it may just be my knee-jerk conservative response, but how many times have we been told that it was to “help improve things”.
I really liked Gmail and several other Google Apps… Though Documents sucked…
So in a completely schizophrenic move I have signed up for a Windows Live account. Yes the previous incarnation of the anti-christ Microsoft. To me Google is now the abusive company and reading my email was the last straw!
So if you value privacy, I suggest you too move away from Google…
