iDon’t
iDon’t…. iDon’t like the iPod…. This makes me the odd man out. iWanted to like the iPod, but it just wasn’t up to the hype that you find on the internet. So iTried the iPod and iDon’t see what the big deal is? The interface was “nice”, but nothing special. Every accessory is so overpriced and you can’t find a deal, so that tells me that the prices are fixed. Though, iWill give the iPod one great point it has a lot of accessories and it looks great.
So here is the story… Last week I bought the iPod Classic, though the storage is great (80gig), it was worthless for watching video. Who wants to watch a movie on that small of a screen? It is not even 16:9 (widescreen) so if the video is set for widescreen you get even less image on the screen. If you correct it to fit the screen then it is like watching an old tv…. So the hype here is over rated.
Sound quality, not what I expected. I have some excellent headphones and I am a bit of an audiophile, so I tend to be picky. On low resolution MP3s you won’t notice it, when you get to high 320kbs and lossless files. That is when you notice the lack of crispness in the sound. The EQ settings are not that great, though generic will work for most.
Also, it comes out of the box nice and shiny, just don’t touch it or it looks like crap. Fingerprints everywhere…..
The great part of the iPod is support for audio books, podcasts (new to this and like it), and the touch sensitive scroll pad. Though I hadn’t gotten used to it and found myself going past the song or setting I wanted a lot. The down fall of this is I kept hitting buttons and screwing up the song I was listening to. Though, if I used it more I would get used to this….
So iDon’t like the iPod. Life will go on… I still want a new MP3 player and the Zune looks interesting, well the next generation does. That is assuming that it will support audio books and the price isn’t bad. The Sandisk Sansa looks good too… I need to do some research into the rest of the MP3 field.
